NCL Bliss and NCL Encore

Textile awnings

Textile roof structures on cruise ships set visible architectural accents and serve to improve the quality of stay by creating shaded areas. From a structural engineering point of view, the structures are highly demanding, as they have to withstand the highest wind loads while at the same time being carefully designed to withstand dynamic influences from the ship's environment. On the two sister ships Norwegian BLISS (2018) and ENCORE (2019), several structures will be erected in different uses. Our contribution is in the optimization of the planned structures and in the development of a unifying design language.
