Böblingen airfield
The roofing of the entrance to the Böblingen S-Bahn station on the airfield side was designed as a tribute to the former function of the area in the form of a taking-off wing. The steel structure, which is covered on all sides with a membrane, is illuminated from the inside and, in addition to the wide-area illumination of the square, also allows the roof to be perceived as a light sculpture. AR Ingenieure, as the specialist planner, prepared the membrane statics and implementation planning, as well as assisting in the tendering process. In the following, AR Ingenieure took over the workshop planning for the steel and membrane construction for the commissioned companies and accompanied the inspection process as well as the approval in individual cases (ZiE). Due to the different requirements, a white type II PVC polyester membrane was used for the upper side of the roof - a highly translucent PVC polyester membrane was installed on the underside to ensure the highest possible light transmission for the lighting.
