Hangar Bangkok

AR Ingenieure has designed a double aircraft hangar for the company ASIA Membrane, which is being built for the client FORTH at Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok/Thailand. The hangar will be used for service and maintenance work on commercial aircraft. The dimensions are 97 m per bay with a depth of 80 m. The steel frame construction is planned as a lattice girder with curved transoms and trusses, which are erected at 10 m intervals. In between, the textile glass fiber membrane forms the translucent space closure as a roof skin and side wall. Compression struts and wind bracing stabilize the hall in the transverse direction of the frames. A wind suction cable stabilizes the roof skin against suction forces. The low dead weight of the structure makes it less susceptible to earthquake effects, which have to be taken into account at this location. Both the calculation model and the CAD model of the hangar are parametrically defined to ensure an effective planning process. AR Ingenieure will be responsible for the execution planning phase in 2024 after the approval planning was completed by the end of 2024.
