Station square/city square Raunheim
Textile four point sails
For the redesign of the station forecourt in Raunheim (Figs. 1, 3, 8), five new textile sail constructions in the grouping 2-2-1 were designed by the open space planning office viaverde as waiting room canopies for public transport passengers. The sail surfaces made of coated glass fibre fabric were attached to steel supports clamped in quiver foundations, as was the case at the city square. The tensionable membrane corner detail already developed for the Town Square by AR Engineers was supplemented with a controlled roof drainage system that passes directly through the steel support into the sewer system,
For the design of the town square (2017, images 2, 4-7), four textile sail constructions were designed by the open space planning office viaverde. The sail surfaces made of coated fibreglass fabric were attached to steel supports clamped into quiver foundations. This made it possible to dispense with guy wires, which would have been perceived as disturbing in the area of the square. For this purpose, AR engineers developed a tensionable membrane corner detail that allows the sails to be re-tensioned at a later date. The overall concept convinced the city and was also used in the redesign of the public space in the area of the station.
