Triangle Cologne

Since 2006, the KölnTriangle skyscraper has offered an impressive view of the city of Cologne from its visitor platform at a height of over 100 metres. In 2019, a lightweight sunshade was added to the platform in the area of the central access. The roof consists of 15 steel frames covered with a glass-PTFE membrane, which are mounted on a pre-assembled steel structure. The frames were already covered in the factory and only the joints were sealed on site. Due to its location, the most economical access to the construction site was provided by a cargo helicopter. In order to make full use of the helicopter's capacity, the frames were delivered by truck in units of four and flown directly onto the platform. There, the frames were then assembled by hand. The video gives an insight into the logistical effort that had to be made to fly in the elements.
