On the occasion of BUGA23, the membrane roofing erected over the new lake stage in Luisenpark for BUGA75 has now been completely renewed after 48 years of use.

The steel structure, which was essentially in good condition, was refurbished in the course of this work and given a new anti-corrosion coating. At the client's request, the textile roof membrane was to be renewed while retaining as far as possible the original design intention, such as the color scheme. At the same time, a careful technical revision of the membrane details to the current state of the art was carried out with regard to construction and design. The edge ropes, which had deteriorated over the years, were also replaced to match the new membrane details. The goal of the BuGa project company to organize a sustainably designed garden show could be supported quite substantially by this procedure. For the renewal of the covered ground area of approx. ^450m2, 615kg of PVC polyester membrane, 235kg of stainless steel ropes and supplemented and renewed steel components with a weight of 300kg were used in this project. This corresponds to a weight per unit area of 2.^6kg/m2. Thus, realized in the basic idea of lightweight construction, this project contributes significantly to a resource-saving renewal of our built environment.
